Lady California
In the early 80’s I had been in Northern California working. Living in Bakersfield I had to drive 6 hours to get home. When I got home it was vacation time and I was in a very good mood while driving home. Being up for three days (common in the Oil and Gas Industry) it was morning as I drove Interstate 5 in the San Joaquin Valley. The sun was coming up over the Sequoias Mountains that could be seen in the distance to the East of me. I began to think how beautiful it was. How so much wealth had come from the streams and rivers in this State? Then I began to think of where I was going on vacation. To the beach in Pismo California. I love the smell of the ocean early in the morning and the magic that flows from being at the coast, and Gods work of beauty.
As I drove I wrote the words on a scratch piece of paper that came to me, that eventually became the song Lady California.

Lyrics To Lady California
LADY CALIFORNIA
by: Michael Bryson
Wake up in the mornin
get up and get around
Not really knowin where I'm bound
California sun comes up
wonderin what to do
Looking up above the sky so blue
Lady California
Lookin thru my eyes
You’re my only heaven in disguise
I wasn't born here
here’s where I'll die
Lady California you’re my high
From your high mountains
to your rich streams
lookin to your ocean for my dreams
Lady California
Lookin thru my eyes
You’re my only heaven in disguise
I've been a million miles over your floor
not really knowing what lies in store
You are so beautiful
in your own way
I think this is where I will stay
Lady California
Lookin thru my eyes
You’re my only heaven in disguise
Wake up in the mornin
gGet up and run around
Not really knowing where I'm bound
California sun comes up
wonderin what to do
Lookin up above the skies so blue
Lady California
Looking thru my eyes
Your my only heaven in disguise
Lady California
