Daddy jack song history

Daddy Jack was written about an Uncle of mine who was notorious for collecting everything he came across. His back yard was not junky looking though. He had all his treasures lined up in rows so they could be proudly viewed by those who wish to look at his STUFF. Once when I had been looking over his treasures I found a pair of old Levis that had one leg almost ripped off. I picked them up and said what are you going to do with these? Daddy Jack instantly tore of the barely hanging on leg and said “I’ll sell them to a one legged man”. This is where the line in the song came from one legged pants.

He did have one of just about everything and two of a lot more.  Daddy Jack did build a miniature train from scrap items and would take the kids in the neighborhood for a ride.

Daddy Jack was one of a kind, and there will never be another one in my life I know that. I have fond memories of my Uncle Jack. It was an honor to be his nephew. We do truly miss him.

Daddy Jack                                  Lyrics and music:  Mike Bryson ©2009 BMI

He was a second hand man made deals across the land

Had one of everything and two of most

He threw nothing away saved it all for a rainy day

What some would call junk he called gold

They called him Daddy Jack and he kept his stuff out back

For everyone to see they say

He was an Entrepreneur a getter done and doer

Drove a 1958 Chevrolet

Chorus:

Hes got BBQ’s and worn out shoes and a birdcage for your cat

One legged pants and a farm for your ants and all kinds of stuff like that

Well Daddy Jack was his name making buyin and selling his game

Always using his hands and his head

Those who knew Daddy Jack could count on him that’s a fact

He would give his right arm it is said

He built a miniature train out of many different thangs

From things (stuff?) that he had not sold

He would give the kids a ride they would all smile with pride

To daddy Jack that was his Gold

Chorus:

Hes got BBQ’s and worn out shoes and a birdcage for your cat

One legged pants and a farm for your ants and all kinds of stuff like that

They called him Daddy Jack and he kept his stuff out back

For everyone to see they say

He was an Entrepreneur a getter done and doer

Drove a 1958 Chevrolet

Define Entrepreneur  its a get er done and do er

Raisin ideas for a wealth race

This was true with daddy jack with one exceptional fact

His wealth put a smile on your face
